Job Purpose
The Sales & Marketing Officer will be responsible for promoting and selling the company’s roofing products to clients, builders, carpenters, construction companies, property developers, hardware stores, and individual customers. The role will involve generating leads, following up on sales opportunities, managing client relationships, supporting marketing campaigns, managing social media activity, coordinating site visits, supporting stock control, and preparing regular sales reports.
The successful candidate must be proactive, confident, organised, target-driven, and able to represent the company professionally in the construction and building materials market.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Promote and sell roofing sheets and related roofing products to customers.
- Identify and follow up on new sales leads from builders, carpenters, developers, contractors, hardware stores, architects, and individual clients.
- Visit construction sites, residential developments, commercial projects, hardware stores, and potential customers to market company products.
- Build strong relationships with builders, carpenters, contractors, construction companies, developers, and other industry stakeholders.
- Arrange product presentations, meetings, and site visits with potential clients.
- Respond to customer enquiries, prepare quotations, and follow up until sales are closed.
- Maintain a database of prospects, customers, and business partners.
- Support customer retention by maintaining regular contact with existing clients.
- Monitor competitor activity, market pricing, customer preferences, and industry trends.
Marketing and Brand Promotion
- Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns to promote roofing products.
- Manage the company’s social media pages, including posting product photos, promotions, customer testimonials, project updates, and educational content.
- Create or coordinate simple marketing materials such as flyers, product brochures, WhatsApp adverts, posters, and online promotions.
- Promote the company through digital platforms, WhatsApp groups, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
- Work with management to develop sales promotions, seasonal campaigns, and product offers.
- Represent the company at trade shows, construction events, networking meetings, and client presentations where required.
Lead Management and Customer Follow-Up
- Record all enquiries and leads received through phone calls, walk-ins, referrals, social media, WhatsApp, and site visits.
- Follow up with potential customers until the enquiry is converted, postponed, or closed.
- Provide excellent customer service before, during, and after the sale.
- Liaise with operations, warehouse, delivery teams, and management to ensure customer orders are fulfilled correctly and on time.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate serious issues to management.
Stock and Inventory Support
- Assist with stock inventory management for roofing sheets, accessories, and related products.
- Monitor stock levels and report low-stock items to management.
- Support stock-taking exercises and maintain accurate product records.
- Ensure sales are aligned with available stock and communicate availability clearly to customers.
- Help coordinate customer collections and deliveries where necessary.
Administration and Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, invoices, customer contacts, site visits, leads, and closed sales.
- Provide reports on marketing activities, social media engagement, customer feedback, and campaign performance.
- Assist with general administrative duties as required.
- Support filing, documentation, customer records, supplier records, and office coordination.
- Prepare meeting notes, client follow-up schedules, and sales activity plans.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in sales, marketing, customer service, construction materials, hardware, roofing, or a related field is preferred.
- Good understanding of sales and customer relationship management.
- Ability to approach and speak confidently with builders, carpenters, contractors, developers, and customers.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of social media marketing and digital promotion.
- Good administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to prepare quotations, reports, and customer follow-up records.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and WhatsApp Business.
- Knowledge of roofing sheets, construction materials, or hardware products will be an added advantage.
