Position Overview:
We are seeking qualified and passionate candidates to fill Lecturer positions across various departments, including but not limited to:
- Basic Medical Sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology)
- Clinical Sciences (Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics,Psychiatry)
- Public Health & Community Medicine:
Successful applicants will be responsible for delivering quality academic instruction, supervising students, conducting research, and contributing to the academic development of the medical school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical demonstrations in assigned subject areas.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic work and research projects.
- Develop and update teaching materials, assessments, and curriculum content.
- Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, boards, and committees.
- Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Supervise and assess student performance during clinical placements and practicums.
- Participate in curriculum design, reviews, and updates.
- Conduct academic assessments, mark exams, and provide feedback to students.
- Support students through feedback, academic advising and mentorship.
- Contribute to community engagement and professional outreach activities.
- Mentor and support students in their academic and professional growth.
- Participate, when necessary, in activities and initiatives to increase the University’s brand awareness, promote the programmes and recruit students.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or Dean.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine (MB ChB) or equivalent, or relevant discipline for non-clinical departments.
- Master’s Degree in the relevant field of specialization in a medical field or relevant discipline for non-clinical departments is required.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) or relevant regulatory body.
- At least 2 years of teaching or relevant professional experience or academic institution.
Preferred:
- PhD or significant progress toward a PhD will be an added advantage.
- Experience in curriculum development and university-level teaching.
- Record of scholarly publications is desirable.
