Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance Officer

Purpose of the Role
The HSE Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Kamiyobo Mine operates in a safe, orderly and compliant manner. The role supports daily safety management, worker awareness, site inspections, environmental housekeeping and proper compliance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Conduct daily or regular toolbox talks with workers.
- Ensure all workers and visitors wear the required PPE.
- Maintain the site PPE register.
- Carry out basic site safety inspections.
- Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and high-risk areas.
- Stop unsafe work and report serious issues to the Site Supervisor and management.
- Ensure first-aid facilities are available and maintained.
- Keep emergency contact numbers visible on site.
- Ensure workers are aware of emergency procedures.
Incident and Risk Management
- Record all incidents, accidents and near-misses.
- Assist with basic incident investigations.
- Maintain an incident and accident register.
- Prepare simple risk assessments for active work areas.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as excavation near pit edges, loading, hauling, tipping and work around machinery.
- Ensure corrective actions are followed up.
Environmental Compliance
- Monitor general environmental housekeeping on site.
- Ensure waste, scrap, oils and fuel are stored properly.
- Report any fuel, oil or chemical spills immediately.
- Ensure no uncontrolled dumping takes place.
- Monitor dust, noise, water flow and general site disturbance.
- Ensure mining activities remain within the approved work area.
- Assist management with environmental inspections or regulator visits.
Compliance Administration
- Maintain the site safety file.
- Ensure visitor induction records are completed.
- Keep toolbox talk records.
- Keep PPE issue records.
- Keep inspection checklists.
- Keep equipment safety checklist records.
- Assist with preparation for inspections by regulators or authorities.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic safety, health and environmental awareness.
- Ability to keep proper written records.
- Ability to communicate safety instructions clearly.
- Must be firm enough to enforce site rules.
- Must be able to identify obvious safety risks.
Preferred Requirements
- HSE certificate or safety training.
- First aid training.
- Previous mining, construction or industrial site experience.
- Knowledge of basic environmental controls.
