Job Title: General Ledger Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, performing account reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and statutory compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger accounts and journal entries.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Maintain effective internal controls and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by Management
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a similar industry.
- ACCA or ZICA certification is an advantage.
- Proficient in Sage 200 and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Zambian tax laws and accounting standards.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
