Role Purpose
The Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of materials, finished products, equipment, and staff between the Curtain Factory, client premises, supplier locations, and any other company-designated destinations. This role supports the installations team directly and ensures delivery logistics are always reliable, organized, and damage-free.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Transportation & Curtain Installation
● Transport curtains, blinds, installation equipment, and materials safely between the factory, suppliers, and client sites
● Deliver completed orders to client premises on schedule — always representing the company professionally on arrival
● Collect materials and supplies from suppliers as directed by the Operations Manager
● Plan efficient daily routes to minimize travel time and fuel usage
● Assist the installations team with offloading and carrying materials at client sites when required
● Transport staff members to and from installation sites as scheduled
Vehicle Care & Maintenance
Conduct a daily pre-trip vehicle check — tyres, oil, fuel, lights, brakes — and report any fault immediately
● Keep the vehicle clean, neat, and presentable at all times — inside and outside
● Report all vehicle damage, mechanical issues, or accidents to the Operations Manager immediately
● Ensure the vehicle is loaded securely — no product or equipment is transported unsecured
● Return the vehicle to the designated parking location at the end of each working day
● Ensure the logbook is updated after every trip
Client Interaction & Professionalism
● Arrive at client premises on time, in uniform, and in a presentable manner
● Handle all interactions with clients professionally and courteously — the Driver represents the company brand
● Protect client property at all times — no damage to client homes, offices, or belongings
● Report any client complaints or site issues immediately to the Operations Manager
Administration
● Maintain a daily trip log — destinations, times, mileage, and purpose
● Submit fuel receipts and trip records to Admin / Finance on the same day
● Notify the Operations Manager of any delivery delays or route changes as they occur
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
All scheduled deliveries completed on time — target 100% per month Zero vehicle damage incidents attributable to driver negligence Vehicle pre-trip checklist completed every working day Trip log and fuel receipts submitted same day — 100% compliance Zero client complaints arising from driver conduct or delivery handling Vehicle returned clean and fueled at end of each working day Punctuality to all scheduled departure times — zero unexplained late departures
Role Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Education
● Zambia School Certificate (Grade 12) preferred but not mandatory
● Valid Zambian Class C (or higher) driver's licence — mandatory
● Clean driving record — no major traffic offences in the past 3 years
Experience Required
● Minimum 10 years of professional driving experience in a commercial or delivery context
● Experience driving light commercial vehicles, panel vans, or similar
● Familiarity with Lusaka road network and surrounding areas
Skills & Competencies
● Safe and confident driving — defensive driving awareness
● Basic vehicle inspection knowledge — ability to identify a fault before it becomes a breakdown
● Good time management — able to manage multiple delivery runs per day
● Basic literacy and numeracy for logbook and receipt management
● Good communication — able to confirm delivery details with clients by phone

● Reliable and punctual — the entire delivery and installation schedule depends on this role
● Professional in appearance and manner — always an ambassador of the company on the road and at client sites
● Honest and trustworthy — handles company property and client goods with integrity
● Calm under pressure — able to manage traffic, tight schedules, and last-minute changes without stress
● Attentive to detail — ensures loads are secured and deliveries are complete before departing
Working Conditions & Special Requirements
● Driving and delivery environment — significant time spent on the road daily
● Physical activity required — loading, offloading, and carrying materials
● May be required to work early starts to accommodate installation scheduling
● Must carry a valid Zambian driver's licence at all times while driving
● Any traffic offences, licence endorsements, or changes to driving record must be disclosed to HR immediately
