Position: Legal Adviser (2 Positions)
Location: CCECC HEAD OFFICE, Lusaka, Zambia
Employment Type: Contract
The Company is seeking qualified and motivated Zambian legal professionals to join its legal team. The positions are primarily focused on contract review, contract drafting and the preparation of contract templates. Applications are welcome from both experienced legal professionals and junior candidates who demonstrate strong legal knowledge, drafting ability and willingness to develop expertise in construction and commercial contracts.
The level of appointment will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, professional experience and demonstrated capabilities.
Job Description
·Review, revise and provide legal comments on commercial, construction, procurement, subcontracting, service and other contracts accurately and within the required timelines.
·Draft, update, and standardise contract templates, legal notices, agreements, letters and other legal documents.
·Identify contractual and legal risks and provide practical recommendations to protect the Company’s interests.
·Conduct legal research and assist in interpreting applicable laws, regulations, court decisions and regulatory requirements.
·Assist in handling litigation, arbitration, claims, disputes and other legal proceedings involving the Company.
·Support the Company in matters relating to corporate law, labour law, commercial law, construction law and regulatory compliance.
·Monitor developments in Zambian legislation and advise the Company on relevant legal and regulatory changes.
·Perform other legal and compliance-related duties assigned by the Company.
2.Experience/Qualifications
·A university law degree required (i.e. LLB)
·Preferably at least one (1) year of relevant work experience, particularly in the construction industry; however, promising junior candidates without such experience may also be considered.
·Admission to practise law in Zambia, with the right of audience before the courts, is preferred but not mandatory.
·Familiar with civil law, company law, labour law and other relevant legislation.
·Familiar with standard contract conditions used in the construction industry (e.g. FIDIC).
·Strong organisational, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
·Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively.
