Job Summary
The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of boiler systems and associated equipment. The role ensures continuous steam generation to support production while maintaining compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment to ensure efficient performance.
- Conduct routine inspections of boiler systems, pumps, valves, water levels, pressure gauges, and safety devices.
- Start up and shut down boiler systems according to established operating procedures.
- Monitor steam pressure, temperature, and water quality, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and report any equipment faults or abnormalities.
- Record operating parameters, maintenance activities, and incidents in boiler logbooks.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms, emergencies, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel during repairs and scheduled shutdowns.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized boiler house.
Qualifications
- Certificate in Boiler Operation or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid Boiler Operator Certification (where applicable).
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Additional technical or mechanical qualifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience operating industrial boilers in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience with steam generation systems, water treatment, and utility equipment is preferred.

- Sound knowledge of boiler operations and safety procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and operating instructions.
