One of our clients, an airline, has given us the mandate to assist with the identification and recruitment of two seasoned Pilots.
Q400 CAPTAIN
(Lusaka, Zambia)
Job Purpose
The Q400 Captain will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft while ensuring compliance with all company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Command and operate the Q400 aircraft safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, aviation regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Lead and manage flight crew in maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
- Conduct pre-flight inspections, briefings, and flight planning activities.
- Monitor weather conditions, NOTAMs, and operational requirements to support safe flight operations.
- Make sound operational decisions during normal and emergency situations.
- Maintain effective communication with Air Traffic Control, Flight Dispatch, Ground Operations, and Cabin Crew.
- Ensure accurate completion of all required flight documentation and reports.
- Promote a strong safety culture and exemplary customer service.
Qualification and Experience
- License - Active ATPL (Airline transport Pilot License) held – must be valid Zambian or ZCAA Validated
- Instrument Rating (IR) - Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) valid.
- Type Rating - On Q400 or any group 2 turbine aircraft (Turboprop)
- Flight Experience - Total Time - Minimum 3000Hrs total flight hours
- PIC on Multi-Engine Turbine - 1000 hours PIC on multi-engine turbine aircraft.
- Medical Certificate - Unrestricted ICAO Class 1 Medical valid.
- Language Proficiency - Minimum ICAO Level 4
- Recency - Current on type or similar turboprop (2 engine) aircraft
- Excellent decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a Line Training Captain, Instructor, Check Pilot, or Examiner.
- Strong leadership and Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills.
- Current and proficient on Q400 or a similar twin-engine turboprop aircraft.
- Experience operating within African and regional airspace.
- Knowledge of ZCAA regulations and ICAO standards
Q400 FIRST OFFICER

Job Purpose
The Q400 First Officer will assist the captain in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft while ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of the Q400 aircraft.
- Attend and actively participate in pre-flight briefings and flight preparation activities.
- Review flight plans, weather information, NOTAMs, dispatch releases, and operational documentation before departure.
- Perform normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures in accordance with company SOPs and aircraft operating manuals.
- Monitor aircraft systems, navigation performance, and flight progress throughout all phases of flight.
- Maintain effective communication with Air Traffic Control, Flight Dispatch, Ground Operations, and Cabin Crew.
- Verify take-off and landing performance calculations and support the captain in operational decision-making.
- Record and report aircraft defects and system malfunctions in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, aviation regulations, and safety requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture, professionalism, teamwork, and excellent customer service.
Qualification and Experience
- License - CPL (Commercial Pilot License) held or Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) Minimum
- Instrument Rating (IR) - Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) valid.
- Flight Experience - Minimum 200 flight hours
- Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) or Crew Resource Management (CRM) - MCC or CRM course completed (mandatory for FO in multi-pilot operations).
- Medical Certificate - Unrestricted ICAO Class 1 Medical valid.
- Language Proficiency - Minimum ICAO Level 4
- Previous experience operating in a multi-crew environment.
- Proven Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills.
- Knowledge of ZCAA regulations and ICAO standards.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and professionalism.
- Proven experience operating within African and regional airspace.
