Environmental Health Assessment
Lead and Related Contaminants – Kabwe, Zambia
Habitat for Humanity Zambia (HFHZ), in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), invites qualified environmental health, occupational safety, environmental consulting firms, and laboratories to submit proposals to conduct a comprehensive Environmental Health Assessment at Habitat for Humanity project sites in Kabwe, Zambia. The assessment will focus on lead and other environmental contaminants to support safe housing development and protect volunteers, staff, and beneficiary communities.
Scope of the Assignment
The successful consultant/firm will undertake, among other activities:
- Historical review of environmental contamination in Kabwe.
- Air sampling for lead dust.
- Soil sampling and laboratory analysis.
- Water quality sampling and analysis.
- Assessment of additional contaminants, including cadmium, arsenic, zinc, and copper.
- Preparation and presentation of a comprehensive Environmental Health Assessment Report with practical recommendations.
Eligibility
Interested firms should demonstrate:
- Proven experience in environmental health assessments.
- Experience with lead contamination investigations or similar environmental studies.
- Qualified technical personnel.
- Access to accredited laboratory services (ISO/IEC 17025 preferred).
- Capacity to deliver the assignment within the required timeframe.
