Tami Fresh Products Ltd is a growing Zambian food processing company producing high-quality value-added food products from locally sourced agricultural produce.
Our products are supplied to supermarkets, wholesalers, restaurants, distributors and other customers. As our customer base continues to grow, we are looking for a responsible, organised and trustworthy Logistics Coordinator & Driver to manage deliveries and support the efficient movement of products from our facility to customers.
The Role
The Logistics Coordinator & Driver will be responsible for planning and coordinating customer deliveries, loading and checking orders, driving company vehicles, obtaining proof of delivery, maintaining delivery records and ensuring company vehicles are properly looked after.
This is a hands-on position. The successful candidate must be comfortable combining logistics administration with driving and physical delivery work.
The person will play an important role in ensuring that the right products, in the right quantities, reach the right customer at the right time and in good condition.
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery Planning & Coordination
- Plan daily and weekly customer deliveries.
- Organise delivery routes to minimise unnecessary mileage, fuel consumption and delays.
- Coordinate with Sales, Stores, Production and Administration to confirm orders that are ready for delivery.
- Prioritise deliveries according to customer requirements and agreed delivery dates.
- Confirm delivery addresses, contact persons, purchase orders and delivery requirements before dispatch.
- Communicate any expected delays or delivery problems promptly.
- Coordinate collections of raw materials, packaging materials and other company supplies when required.
2. Order Checking & Loading
- Check products against invoices, delivery notes or picking lists before loading.
- Ensure the correct products and quantities are loaded for each customer.
- Check that products being dispatched are properly packed, sealed and in good condition.
- Ensure products for different customers are properly separated and identified.
- Assist with loading and unloading products.
- Ensure goods are safely arranged in the vehicle to minimise damage during transportation.
- Report shortages, damages or discrepancies before leaving the premises.
3. Customer Deliveries
- Deliver products safely and on time to supermarkets, wholesalers, restaurants, distributors and other customers.
- Follow customer receiving procedures, particularly for major retail customers.
- Present the correct delivery documentation at the customer's receiving point.
- Verify delivered quantities with the customer.
- Obtain signatures, stamps or other required Proof of Delivery (POD).
- Return all signed delivery documentation to the office promptly.
- Report rejected products, shortages, returns or other delivery issues immediately.
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with customers.
4. Delivery Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and collections.
- Ensure delivery notes and invoices are correctly signed and returned.
- Keep records of unsuccessful or partially completed deliveries.
- Record customer returns and rejected products.
- Maintain daily vehicle mileage records.
- Record fuel purchases and fuel usage.
- Submit completed delivery documentation at the end of each delivery cycle.
- Assist with reconciliation of goods dispatched against goods delivered and returned.
5. Vehicle Management
- Conduct basic vehicle checks before starting daily deliveries.
- Check tyres, oil, coolant, lights, brakes and general vehicle condition.
- Keep company vehicles clean and presentable.
- Monitor vehicle service requirements and notify management when servicing is due.
- Report mechanical problems, accidents or vehicle damage immediately.
- Ensure company vehicles are used only for authorised company business.
- Keep fuel usage within reasonable operating levels.
- Ensure the vehicle is safely parked and secured when not in use.
6. Stock & Warehouse Support
When not undertaking deliveries, the Logistics Coordinator & Driver may be required to:
- Assist with receiving finished products into the warehouse.
- Assist with stock counts.
- Support stock organisation and proper product storage.
- Assist with picking and preparing customer orders.
- Help monitor products awaiting dispatch.
- Assist in identifying damaged, expired or near-expiry products.
- Support general warehouse and logistics activities as required.
7. Customer & Internal Communication
- Maintain good communication with customers during deliveries.
- Notify the office immediately if a customer cannot receive an order.
- Communicate customer delivery concerns to Sales or Management.
- Coordinate with the sales team regarding urgent customer deliveries.
- Provide feedback about delivery challenges, customer receiving procedures and route conditions.
- Represent Tami Fresh professionally whenever interacting with customers and suppliers.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 Certificate and tertiary qualifications
- A valid Zambian driver's licence appropriate for the company vehicle.
- At least 3 years' driving experience, preferably involving commercial deliveries.
- Previous experience in logistics, distribution, FMCG, warehousing or delivery operations will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Lusaka and surrounding areas.
- Ability to read and understand invoices, delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Basic computer and smartphone skills.
- Ability to maintain simple delivery, fuel and mileage records.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company staff.

Added Advantages
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Previous experience delivering to major supermarkets and retail chains.
- Experience with FMCG or food products.
- Knowledge of supermarket receiving procedures.
- Experience using ERP, inventory or delivery management systems.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Experience coordinating delivery routes.
- Experience handling Proof of Delivery documentation.

Important Accountability
The Logistics Coordinator & Driver will be responsible for products entrusted to them from the time they are loaded onto the company vehicle until they are successfully delivered or formally returned to the company.
Any shortages, damages, rejected goods, accidents or discrepancies must be reported immediately and properly documented.
The successful candidate will therefore need to demonstrate a high level of honesty, accountability and attention to detail.

We need someone who understands that good logistics is an important part of good customer service.
The ideal candidate should be able to organise a day's deliveries, check every order before leaving, plan an efficient route, deliver professionally to customers, obtain the correct documentation and return with a complete record of what happened during the day's deliveries.
The person should take ownership of the company vehicle, products being transported and delivery documentation.
