BACKGROUND
The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Health (MoH), is strengthening national preparedness and response capacity for infectious disease outbreaks through the development of appropriate health infrastructure. In collaboration with relevant Government institutions and development partners, the Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS), as the Client and contracting entity, invites suitably qualified multidisciplinary consultancy firms or joint ventures to submit proposals for the assessment, design and preparation of tender documentation for Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Facilities.
The proposed facilities are intended to support the management of Ebola, Marburg, severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), airborne infections and other relevant infectious diseases. The potential sites identified for assessment are the partially completed facility at Mwembeshi and a proposed site at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH), Lusaka. Final site selection will be subject to technical assessment, the Ministry of Health’s options appraisal and written instruction by the Client.
The consultancy will prioritise the preparation of a coordinated, technically compliant and construction-ready design package for one selected priority facility, with an optional second facility subject to separate instruction and funding. The design shall promote safe clinical functionality, infection prevention and control, affordability, phased construction, operational sustainability and future adaptability.
Submission method: Three 3 (1 Original and 2 Copies) Sealed and clearly marked bids with tender no. ZRCS/FCDO/IDF-DESIGN/2026 must be submitted in the Tender Box at ZRCS HQ reception.
