This is a permanent position.
The Role:
We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Zambia. The role supports effective financial management across both manufacturing and retail operations. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, and timely submission of reports to the international group and investor.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with both local accounting standards and group reporting requirements.
- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and payment processes to ensure efficient financial operations.
- Support preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, statutory filings, and other regulatory obligations.
- Prepare and submit financial and management reports required by the group and the investors.
- Assist with audits and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
- Maintain internal controls and support process improvements in financial systems.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external partners (e.g., auditors, tax authorities, banks).
Qualifications /experience required:
- Qualified Accountant with a relevant Degree or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance and administration.
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in financial accounting and administrative processes.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external partners.
- Experience working in an international company with global operations preferred.
- Experience in grant reporting is an advantage.
- Experience in retail and or manufacturing is an advantage.
