Accounts Officer – Private Construction Company (Lusaka)
We are seeking a motivated Accounts Officer to join our team in Lusaka.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial transactions and ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting, cost control and project costing.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and company policies.
- Monitor project expenditures, budgets, and cost variances.
- Verify supplier invoices and subcontractor payments against approved purchase orders and contracts.
- Prepare payment certificates and maintain records of project advances and retentions.
- Support site teams in cost forecasting and budget compliance.
- Ensure compliance with ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, Workers Compensation, and NCC statutory requirements.
- Support external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Maintain a proper filing system for vouchers, receipts, and payment records.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls and approval workflows.
- process monthly payroll, ensuring correct deductions and timely payments.
- Maintain staff advance and loan registers, ensuring proper recovery and reconciliation.
- Coordinate with HR on statutory remittances and staff benefits.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting (or related field).
- Experience in a construction company is an added advantage.
- Age 28‑35 years.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel) and MS Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Must be based in Lusaka.
