Position Description
The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient management of inventory at the Warehouse (with correct inventory entries which are updated in a timely manner) and across all inventorying points in the country. He/she will ensure that inventory control procedures are in place and adhered to in order to safeguard Company inventory.
R&Rs
- The Inventory Controller is the custodian of inventory records/balances, responsible for physical verification, regular reconciliations and general monitoring of inventory activity.
- Assist in developing and implementing inventory policies and procedures.
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc inventory levels and consumption reports to all relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate and participate in weekly and monthly and annual inventory counts and inventory position reports and sign-off records are submitted for further actions.
- Perform weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations of physical counts and highlight variances to the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure all inventory movements are tracked daily end to end and variances therewith reconciled and reported.
- Strictly ensure FIFO is observed at partners' premises to minimize inventory aging.
- Implement and ensure a control system to reduce inventory obsolescence.
- Support accurate and timely reporting through ensuring all inventory data is updated correctly.
- Coordinate importation of new consignments of inventory and stay up to date on relevant national policies.
- Carry out spot checks on inventory balances at the Warehouse and partner sites against the records and capture any anomalies.
KPIs
- Manage, monitor, reconcile and account for inventory at the Warehouse.
- Report on all inventory movements and inventory positions in trade daily, weekly and monthly.
- To achieve product traceability of inventory in trade
- Ensure and Manage FIFO is observed to minimize inventory aging
- Report accuracy and timely submission
Desired Skills and Experience
- Advanced Diploma/Degree in Warehouse Management or business-related field
- 1 – 2 years of relevant experience
- Understanding of Warehouse processes and procedures
- Specific experience in inventory accounting and management
- Good understanding of inventory-related operational and control requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player with good communication skills;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of proper bookkeeping and inventory management
- Analytical mind with ability to make accurate mathematical computations.
