We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity and are seeking a suitably qualified individual to join the LICS community as a Secondary School Vice Principal, effective 1st August 2026.
1. Requirements and Qualities:
· Demonstrate strong motivation, discipline, initiative, and professional conduct.
· Ability to plan, forecast, and continuously review to drive school improvement.
· Communicates respectfully and clearly with diverse staff, students, parents, and external partners.
· Proven experience leading academic and/or pastoral areas, including behaviour, attendance, and discipline.
· Skilled in data analysis, student tracking, IT systems, and evidence-informed decision-making.
· Effectively manages sensitive well-being matters, delivers PSHE programmes, and works collaboratively as a team player.
· Demonstrate sound leadership knowledge, skills, values, and effective professional practice.
· Lead teaching and learning, drives innovation, and establishes effective management systems.
· Builds strong professional relationships through empathy, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal skills.
· Actively engages with and contributes to the wider school community.
2. Qualifications:
· BEd / BA (QTS) / PGCE or equivalent
· Qualifications and training relevant to the leadership position
· Training in Child Protection and Safeguarding (Mandatory)
· Preferred certification in pastoral leadership or counselling skills
3. Key Responsibilities:
3.1 Learner Welfare and Performance Monitoring / Management
· Oversee the quality of teaching, learning, curriculum delivery, and assessment across Secondary.
· Lead academic quality assurance, including lesson observations, work scrutiny, and examination analysis.
· Line-manage and mentor Heads of Department, supporting professional development and performance management.
· Use data, tracking, and intervention strategies to raise academic standards and support learner progress.
· Ensure effective provision for Learning Support, EAL, and G&T learners, and oversee inspection readiness.
3.2 Safeguarding
· Ensure all pupils feel safe, supported, and secure within the school environment.
· Promote a strong safeguarding culture across the Secondary school.
· Undertake and maintain relevant child protection and safeguarding training.
· Support staff awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures.
· Act in accordance with school and statutory safeguarding policies.
3.3 Timetabling
· Lead the development and coordination of the Secondary school timetable.
· Work closely with Heads of Department to ensure effective departmental timetabling.
· Ensure efficient deployment of staff to support curriculum delivery.
· Resolve timetable challenges in collaboration with teaching staff.
· Review and refine timetables to support learner needs and school priorities.
3.4 Policy Development and Communications
· Lead the development, review, and implementation of academic and behaviour policies.
· Communicate effectively with parents on academic progress, behaviour, and pastoral matters.
· Contribute to staff and parents’ handbooks and provide regular parent updates.
· Ensure pastoral care is integrated with academic tracking for holistic student development.
· Oversee behaviour management strategies and disciplinary processes.
3.5 Line Management, Staff Development, and Training
· Line-manage Heads of Department in partnership with the Secondary Principal.
· Lead staff development and training aligned with school improvement priorities.
· Coordinate internal and external professional development opportunities.
· Play a key role in academic staff performance management.
· Support the induction and ongoing professional growth of staff.
3.6 Planning
· Plan strategically with the Principal to support school development priorities.
· Coordinate preparations with staff, finance, and external stakeholders.
· Supervise academic activities and initiatives across Secondary.
· Oversee assessment and examination systems and processes.
· Monitor implementation to ensure impact and continuous improvement.
