The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for planning, managing, and executing procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of goods and services. The role focuses on supplier management, contract negotiation, cost optimization, and adherence to procurement policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, tendering, evaluation, and contract award
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value for money
- Prepare and manage procurement plans, budgets, and forecasts
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure effective contract management and compliance
- Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws
- Analyze market trends and recommend cost-saving and risk-mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance, operations, logistics, projects)
- Prepare procurement reports and present performance updates to management
- Support audits and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
- Mentor and supervise junior procurement staff where applicable
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
- Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent is an added advantage
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain, with at least 3 years in a senior role
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier management skills
- Sound knowledge of procurement regulations, tender procedures, and ethical standards
- Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
