The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and professional maintenance of the company fleet. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in servicing and repairing Scania, Mercedes, and MAN trucks, and experience working within a transport company environment
1. Job Title: Senior Mechanic (Horse and Trailers)
To observe and strip as required, diagnose faults and carry out repairs or servicing as required and to acceptable standards. To do so on trucks and trailers, and their components including engines, transmissions, drive train, suspension, steering, brakes, tyres, among others in order to ensure roadworthiness, safety and maximize availability of the fleet whilst complying with relevant health and safety legislation and quality standards.
Responsibilities
• To allocate work to junior mechanics/mechanics, welders and electricians and double check that the work is done correctly.
• Dedicate jobs to the team and ensure they are being done in good time
• To make sure correct spares are being used and old spares are returned to stores.
• Inspect and assess vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions and report to the workshop manager.
• To be present while VID (final vehicle inspection) is been done, so that if any problems are found they are noted and attended to
• Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using appropriate tools.
• Plans work procedure.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and resolve them efficiently.
• Conduct engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and other complex mechanical tasks.
• Be active on relevant work communication groups to ensure prompt response to breakdowns and other incidents requiring workshop intervention.
• Overseeing the performance of the team, and report any non-performance to HR
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Collaborate with the operations team to minimize downtime and ensure the fleet's reliability.

Requirements and Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Advanced Craft certificate in Heavy Equipment Repairs/ or its equivalent.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a transport company or a similar environment.
• Proven experience as a Mechanic with a focus on Scania, Mercedes, and MAN trucks.
• Other relevant technical certifications or qualifications are a plus
2. Job Title: Trailer Mechanics X2
To diagnose faults, maintain, test and repair company trailers including engines in order to ensure roadworthiness, safety and maximize availability for use of the company’s fleet whilst complying with relevant health and safety legislation and quality standards.
Responsibilities
• Conduct preventive and break down maintenance of company trailers
• Identify reasons for trailer failure and make recommendations.
• Attend breakdowns timeously and efficiently.
• Ensure all work related to trailer is done to workshop standards before truck is released from the workshop.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Skills
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in vehicle maintenance
Requirements
• Full grade 12 certificate.
• Relevant qualification relating to mechanical work on diesel trucks and pneumatics
• Must be a Zambian citizen with a Green National Registration Card.
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar environment
3. Job Title: Auto Electrician X1
To conduct installations, repair, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems in the company vehicles to ensure roadworthiness, safety and maximize availability for use of the company’s fleet whilst complying with relevant health and safety legislation and quality standards.
Responsibilities
• Performing electronic diagnostics on the vehicles to identify faults.
• Ensure all batteries, starters, alternators, GS units etc. electrical components of value have been branded accordingly.
• Check and replace faulty batteries on all units.
• Repairing electrical and electronic faults, replacing damaging/faulty parts where necessary
• Attend to any electrical breakdowns where required.
• Repair of electrical equipment in the workshop / yard / office area when required.

Requirements
• Full grade 12 certificate.
• Craft certificate in Auto Electrical Engineering

• 3-5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
4. Technical Manager x1
Job Purpose
To Manage and oversee all workshop operations for designated fleet.
Accountability
• Plan daily, weekly and monthly workshop jobs for designated fleet.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure workshop plans are optimised.
• Ensure drivers report work required on arrival and incorporate into planning schedule.
• Supervise of all workshop staff.
• Support workshop supervisors to ensure job planning is implemented as required.
• Ensure all workshop and related procedures are followed.
• Ensure field operations including breakdown and rescue are planned and implemented in a timely manner and in accordance with set procedures.
• Take direct charge of more complex fault diagnosis and repair functions including electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems analysis and repairs, engines and major components.
• Investigate and correct any non-adherence to workshop related procedures, and involving the technical director in all such cases.
• Contribute to the revision of existing procedures, the design and implementation of new procedures.
• Ensure all vehicle inspection and done by the authorised supervisors and signed off prior to release. Conduct random check from time to time that such inspections are done properly.
• Ensure housekeeping duties and timekeeping are adhered to.
• Work, manage and liaise with others, internally and externally, in an ethical and respectful manner, and in compliance with all applicable company policies.
• Check and ensure spare part physical stock levels are always sufficient to carry out works accordingly.
• Ensure workspaces are maintained to the expected safety standard for cleanliness, ventilation, lighting, overhead hazards, electrical safety, solvent use, etc
• Monitor quality of work and ensure work is done to the standards expected, including areas such as the fault-finding process and testing prior to release
• Ensure workshop staff use required PPE (personal protective equipment) in an appropriate manner when required.
• Ensure stores/parts handling procedures are followed for the drawing/returning of parts, consumables, lubricants, etc and accountability is maintained according to procedures.
• Contribute to parts ordering to ensure appropriate parts are available.
• Prepare all required reports and summaries for the technical director to review.
• Report on exceptions, including premature failure incidents, particularly as it might relate to supplier warranty and/or improvement of processes and procedures.
• Liaise closely with and report to the Technical Manager on all issues of which he should be aware.
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements & Core Competencies:
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Managerial and Supervisory skills
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Diploma in Heavy Equipment Repairs or its equivalent.
