Job Purpose
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing effective human resource strategies and policies that support the organization’s goals while ensuring full compliance with the labour laws of Zambia.
Key Responsibilities
1. Human Resource Planning & Administration
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems in line with the Employment Code Act of Zambia.
- Manage employee records, contracts, confirmations, promotions, and exits.
- Advise management on HR-related matters and organizational structure.
2. Recruitment & Selection
- Plan and coordinate recruitment and selection processes.
- Ensure fair, transparent, and merit-based hiring practices.
- Conduct onboarding and induction for new employees.
3. Employee Relations & Discipline
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure disciplinary procedures comply with Zambian labour laws and company policy.
- Promote a positive and productive work environment.
4. Performance Management
- Develop and oversee performance appraisal systems.
- Support departmental heads in setting performance targets and reviews.
- Identify training and development needs.
5. Training & Development
- Coordinate staff training, skills development, and capacity-building programs.
- Promote continuous learning and career development.
6. Payroll & Compensation
- Oversee payroll administration in coordination with finance.
- Ensure accurate payment of salaries, allowances, and statutory deductions.
- Manage employee benefits and compensation structures.
7. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including:
- NAPSA
- NHIMA
- Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board
- PAYE and other labour-related obligations
8. Health, Safety & Welfare
- Promote workplace health and safety policies.
- Support employee welfare programs and initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g. ZIHRM) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian labour laws and HR best practices.
