Job Purpose
The Human Resource Officer will provide essential operational support to the HR department, ensuring the smooth implementation of personnel activities and policies. This role serves as a key link between the head office and field staff, requiring regular travel to various sites to facilitate staff engagement, monitor employee well-being, and ensure HR compliance across all locations.
Responsibilities
- Conducting regular site visits to provide HR support to field teams and facilitate face-to-face staff engagements;
- Acting as the primary point of contact for remote employees, ensuring they are aligned with the organization’s mission and values;
- Organizing and leading on-site employee wellness initiatives and engagement activities to promote a positive work culture outside the head office;
- Assisting the HR Manager in the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing candidates and conducting initial screenings;
- Coordinating the practical aspects of onboarding for new hires and managing the documentation for offboarding procedures;
- Supporting the Human Resource Manager in resolving grievances and disciplinary issues in accordance with Zambian labour laws and company policy;
- Helping maintain a performance-based culture by assisting staff with goal setting and the performance evaluation process;
- Promoting diversity, inclusion, and a multicultural work environment;
- Collecting and preparing payroll input data to ensure accurate and timely compensation;
- Assisting in the preparation and timely submission of statutory returns, specifically NAPSA and NHIMA contributions;
- Maintaining up-to-date and confidential employee records and HR databases;
- Generating HR metrics and reports to support data-driven decision-making within the department;
- Coordinating training and development logistics for staff skill enhancement.
Requirements
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field
- A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant HR generalist experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Zambian employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and HR software.
- Must be highly mobile and willing to travel frequently to remote sites for employee engagements, installations, maintenance, stakeholder engagements, and other operational needs.
- Fluency in English with excellent interpersonal skills.
