Logistician
DCAF in Zambia
DCAF Zambia has been engaged in Zambia's efforts to improve police governance since 2019, supporting initiatives to enhance police accountability and effectiveness.
In January 2025, DCAF Zambia initiated a new project to support reform of the Zambia Police Service (ZPS). The project aims to promote a more accountable, effective, and human rights-compliant police service, particularly in the context of the 2026 elections, by strengthening governance, management, and oversight. The Logistician-Driver will support the effective implementation of the project by providing driving, logistical, and operational support in close coordination with the project team and DCAF Headquarters.
Key roles and responsibilities:
1. Driving and Transport
· Provides safe, reliable, and timely transportation for DCAF staff, consultants, partners, and visitors, in accordance with DCAF procedures and local regulations.
· Runs official errands.
· Maintains accurate vehicle logbooks and trip records.
· Ensures the proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness of project vehicle.
· Coordinates routine servicing, repairs, inspections, and insurance of vehicles.
· Monitors fuel consumption and ensures appropriate fuel management and documentation.
2. Logistics and Operational Support
· Supports logistical arrangements for project activities, workshops, trainings, and meetings, including transport of participants, materials, and equipment.
· Assists with procurement-related logistics, including collection and delivery of goods and supplies.
· Assists with travel and logistical arrangements for staff and consultants when needed.
· Ensures compliance with DCAF policies, procedures, and local legal requirements related to transport and logistics.
· Supports accurate filing and documentation related to transport and logistics.
· Supports office operations by delivering letters, messages, and documents as required.
Requirements:
· Secondary school certificate required; additional training or certification in logistics, transport management, or administration is an asset.
· Valid Zambian driving licence (minimum class relevant for project vehicle) with a clean driving record.
· Minimum 3–5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an international organisation, NGO, donor-funded project, or public institution.
· Proven experience providing logistical and operational support in a professional setting.
· Demonstrated knowledge of Lusaka and major road networks in Zambia.
· Experience working in environments requiring discretion, reliability, and adherence to procedures.
· Previous experience supporting field missions, workshops, or project operations is an asset.
· Experience in office administration and operational support, including coordination with suppliers, service providers, and national authorities.
· Zambian citizenship or valid residence permit at the time of application is a pre-requisite.
