The Individual Life Underwriter is a key revenue enabling role responsible for assessing and underwriting new retail life insurance business. The role ensures strong risk management, fast turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and a consistently high quality customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite retail life insurance proposals in line with company underwriting guidelines and approved risk appetite.
- Maintain accurate and up to date policy data on the Life Administration System.
- Prepare and manage policy documentation and related administrative processes.
- Handle retail underwriting aspects of complaints and claims within agreed service timelines.
- Perform premium lodging and reconciliation, including computation of commissions.
- Support retail reporting, internal audits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, Claims, Reinsurance, and Operations teams to support premium growth and service excellence.
- Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and underwriting training for sales teams.

Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of 5 O’ Levels (Credit or better).
- Diploma in Insurance or any business-related qualification.
- A degree will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in individual life underwriting or a similar role.
