The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. The role ensures that all systems, servers, networks, and applications operate efficiently, securely, and reliably to support business operations. The Systems Engineer will also troubleshoot technical issues, improve system performance, and ensure the availability of critical IT services.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Installation and Configuration
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and enterprise applications.
- Manage system upgrades, patches, and updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Configure system components to meet organizational requirements.
2. Infrastructure Management
- Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure including servers, storage systems, and network devices.
- Ensure high system availability and reliability across the organization.
- Manage backups and disaster recovery systems.
3. System Monitoring and Performance Optimization
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to servers, networks, and applications.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
- Maintain system logs and documentation.
4. Security and Compliance
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data.
- Monitor systems for vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and cyber threats.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and industry standards.
5. Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support for system-related issues to internal teams.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve complex technical issues.
6. System Documentation and Improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation of system architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Recommend improvements to system infrastructure and IT processes.
- Participate in IT projects including system upgrades and infrastructure expansion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in systems administration or systems engineering.
- Experience with Windows/Linux server environments and enterprise IT systems.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of server management, networking, and IT infrastructure.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Understanding of network protocols, security practices, and system monitoring tools.
