Zambart is an independent Zambian research organization whose headquarters is at the University of Zambia’s Ridgeway Campus in Lusaka. Zambart is globally renowned for its interdisciplinary research on HIV and Tuberculosis and has contributed to HIV and TB policy and practice at national and global levels. Zambart’s research portfolio now includes a broader scope of urgent public health issues. Zambart staff form an interdisciplinary team with a range of expertise including epidemiology, clinical science, social science, laboratory, operations research, health systems and services research, health policy analysis, health economics, health communication and counselling.

Job Title: IT Support Assistant

Job Summary
The IT Support Assistant will provide first-line technical support to staff across the organization. The role is responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution of IT-related problems. The IT Support Assistants will support daily IT operations and assist in maintaining secure and reliable IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. User Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide first-level technical support (onsite and remote).
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer, and network issues.
- Support users with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, etc. related issues
- Assist users with password resets, email issues, and system access to the network.
2. Website Support
Assist the Communications team with:
· Website Security, Management & Software Updates
· Content Management
· Website Cleaning & Fixing Errors
3. Hardware & Equipment Management
- Install, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, printers and peripherals.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of computers and printers.
- Assist with equipment inventory.
- Support induction for new employees (accounts, email, devices).
4. Software & Security
- Install and update approved software applications.
- Apply patches and system updates as directed.
- Support antivirus management and endpoint protection.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies and data security procedures.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of issues and resolutions.
- Develop user guides and basic IT training materials.
- Report recurring issues and recommend improvements.
Essential requirements
- BSc in computer science or equivalent education
- Knowledge in networking, including VPN
- Good working knowledge of Windows Server
- SQL server skills
- Basic understanding of programming
- Knowledge of WordPress for managing the website
- Working knowledge of cloud services
- Knowledge of working with PDA’s and mobile (smart phones) phone technology
Desirable
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team
- Good and consistent documentation of activities and procedures
- Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to acquire further computing skills
- Knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu will be an added advantage
