Job Title: Content Manager & Administrative Assistant (Remote – Active Field/Desk Hybrid)
Organisation: eAfrica Research Institute for Technology and Economics (ERITE) / eAfrica Expo
Department: Operations & Marketing
Reports To: Managing Director / Head of Operations
Location: Remote – Must be based in Lusaka, Zambia for regular local movement
Employment Type: Full-time
Application Deadline: 26th June 2026
Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic, highly organised individual to fill a unique remote role that blends creative content management, active administrative support, and field mobility. You will spend significant time on a computer – creating marketing content, managing digital campaigns, and handling admin systems – while also being on the phone regularly and moving locally to deliver correspondence, attend client meetings, and manage errands. This is not a desk-only remote job; it’s a high-energy position for someone who thrives on variety and wants to contribute to the pan-African digital transformation mission of ERITE and the eAfrica Expo.
Key Responsibilities
Content Management & Marketing (High Computer Time)
- Create, edit, and publish engaging content for eAfricaExpo.com, ERITE.org, social media, newsletters, and brochures.
- Manage a content calendar that aligns with major events (including eAfrica Expo), campaigns, and continental digital policy moments.
- Design basic graphics and write persuasive copy for promotional campaigns, event invitations, and stakeholder communications.
- Monitor and report on digital engagement metrics (open rates, website traffic, social shares) and suggest improvements.
- Coordinate with external printers, designers, or agencies for any required physical marketing collateral.
Administrative Support & Client Coordination (High Phone & Field Time)
- Prepare, issue, and track invoices; professionally follow up on outstanding balances via phone and email.
- Handle physical correspondence: printing, signing, sealing, and personally delivering or posting official letters, packages, and event materials.
- Conduct extensive follow-up calls to clients, partners, suppliers, and event delegates – confirming documents, payments, attendance, and maintaining relationship warmth.
- Attend client meetings in person and virtually, take accurate minutes, present operational updates, and support business development conversations.
- Assist with scheduling, calendar management, and travel logistics for senior staff.
General Operations & Field Movement
- Maintain meticulous digital and physical filing systems for contracts, invoices, and marketing assets.
- Monitor office supplies and branded materials inventory; reorder and restock as needed.
- Act as the primary liaison with courier services and the postal system – including regular runs to the post office or delivery drop-off points.
- Provide hands-on operational support during eAfrica Expo events (local preparations, errand running, on-ground coordination when required).
- Any other administrative tasks necessary to keep remote operations running seamlessly.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 1–3 years’ experience in a blended role combining content creation, administrative duties, and customer/client-facing tasks.
- Proven ability to manage invoicing and basic financial tracking (familiarity with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar a strong advantage).
- Experience drafting professional business letters, meeting notes, and marketing copy.
Skills & Competencies
- Outstanding writing and editing skills in English, with a sharp eye for detail and brand voice.
- Basic graphic design ability – comfortable using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools for social media visuals and flyers.
- Excellent phone manner – you will spend a large portion of your day on calls; you must be articulate, warm, and unfazed by high call volumes.
- Organisational mastery – able to balance a creative editorial calendar with pressing administrative deadlines and physical errands.
- High digital proficiency – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, content management systems (WordPress), and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp).
- Physical mobility and reliability – you must hold a valid driver’s licence (or be highly proficient with Lusaka’s public transport) for letter delivery, client visits, and courier runs.
- Self-discipline for remote work – you can manage your own schedule, stay productive without direct supervision, and seamlessly switch between deep-focus computer tasks, calls, and outdoor errands.
- Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential invoices, client data, and sensitive correspondence.
Working Conditions
- Remote, but based in Lusaka with regular local movement. This is not a sedentary home-office role.
- Daily rhythm: substantial computer time (content creation, admin), frequent phone calls, and periodic field errands (post office, courier, client meetings).
- May require flexible hours during major eAfrica Expo events or campaign push periods.
- All necessary digital tools and a communication stipend will be provided; local travel costs for work-related movement will be covered.
Why Join ERITE & the eAfrica Expo?
- Play a pivotal role in shaping the voice of a pan-African digital transformation initiative seen by policymakers, innovators, and development partners across the continent.
- Escape the monotony of a purely desk-bound remote job – enjoy a role that keeps you active, connected, and constantly learning.
- Join a mission-driven team where your creative output and operational reliability directly fuel the success of the eAfrica Expo and Africa’s digital future.
- Enjoy generous bonus scheme, flexible hours, professional development opportunities and stipends.
