The Stock Clerk is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day management of stock within company warehouses and depots. The role involves receiving, storing, issuing, loading and offloading stock, maintaining accurate stock records, and assisting with stock counts to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and readily available to support business operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Depot Manager and Stock Controller to ensure that all stock movements are accurately documented, storage areas are well organized, and company stock is safeguarded against loss or damage.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming stock against delivery documentation.
- Load and offload stock safely and efficiently.
- Store stock in the designated warehouse locations in accordance with company procedures.
- Pick and issue stock based on approved documentation.
- Accurately record all stock receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
- Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and periodic stock takes.
- Report damaged, missing, expired, or excess stock to the supervisor promptly.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and secure warehouse and storage areas.
- Assist in stock transfers between depots and warehouses.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of agricultural inputs to minimize losses and damage.
- Comply with company inventory control procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Key Qualifications and Competencies
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) credits or better.
- Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in warehouse operations, stock handling, or inventory management.
- Basic understanding of warehouse and stock control procedures.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
- High level of honesty, integrity, and accountability.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
- Physically fit and capable of handling warehouse duties.
