Job Title:
Excavator Operator
Job Purpose:
The Excavator Operator is responsible for operating heavy construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, rock, and other materials at construction or mining sites. The operator ensures safe, efficient, and precise operation of the excavator to meet project requirements and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate excavators and related heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
2. Excavate trenches, foundations, and other areas according to site plans and specifications.
3. Load and unload materials such as soil, gravel, and rocks into trucks or designated areas.
4. Inspect and maintain the excavator daily, ensuring it is in safe working condition.
5. Identify and report mechanical issues or needed repairs to the maintenance team.
6. Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations while operating equipment.
7. Read and interpret construction drawings, grading plans, and site layouts.
8. Coordinate with site supervisors, engineers, and other equipment operators to ensure workflow efficiency.
9. Assist with minor maintenance and cleaning of the machine.
10. Adhere to project timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field.
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience operating an excavator.
