Position: Health Coordinator
Reporting to: Africa Call Programme Coordinator
Objective/ Purposes of job:
1. Coordinate daily operations of Shalom Clinic and Maternity – Health Department - to ensure quality service delivery, adherence to standards, policies and procedures, implementation of any project that may target the Health Department, sound reporting, and increment of patients turnover;
2. Support the Project Manager in the implementation of the activities of the project “Contrasting Child Malnutrition in Lusaka’s peri-urban areas” funded by the Italian Government.
Roles & Responsibilities/ Principal Duties:
1. Coordination of Health Department (50%)
Coordinate and supervise all health department’s staff, both from ACO staff (seven medical personnel in the clinic and ten volunteers among clinic, maternity and physiotherapist unit) and GRZ personnel (ten midwifes and nurses in the maternity);
Ensure timely submission of quality weekly and monthly reports to Kanyama District and ACO Management;
Revise and develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for the Department;
Promote the digitalization of the entire department (HMIS and SMARTCARE);
Manage the relationships with Kanyama Sub-district (Matron – HR – Public Health Specialist) to ensure effective collaboration between Government personnel and ACO in the maternity ward, as well as implementation of joint projects and programs.
Manage the procurement and inventory of supplies (purchased by ACO and donated by the GRZ) to ensure constant availabilities and accountability, in collaboration with the logistics department.
Develop and implement strategies to increase the patience inflow to Shalom Maternity;
Oversee the Department’s accounts in collaboration with the Program Coordinator;
Support the Program Coordinator in the implementation of any new Health Project/Program that may arise;
Any other duty in line with the position.
2. Project implementation – Nutrition (50%)
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, he/she will ensure that the Project’s activities are implemented in line with logical framework, budget and timeframe. Specifically, he/she will:
Liaise with MOH at District and clinic level throughout the Project (from identification of the four beneficiary clinics to the implementation of the Project’s activities) to secure effective cooperation;
Staff management: recruitment, guidance, coordination of project’s staff to ensure smooth implementation of the Project activities (2 nutritionists – 1 counsellor – 1 MW);
Ensure all Project documentation is duly produced and properly filed (photos, vehicles log-sheets, attendance registers for trainings, course materials, brochures and posters, etc.);
Organize trainings for HWs and CHVs;
Organize community sensitization campaigns;
Support procurement and logistics related to the Project (distributions of medical supplies);
Carry out M&E activities;
Submit project report to the Project Manager;
Perform any other duties relevant to the position.
General Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field;
At least 3 years of experience in coordination roles and staff management;
Previous experience working with NGOs or government institutions in the field of nutrition and/or public health;
Proficient in computer skills;
Fluency in English and proficiency in local languages;
Strong passion for working with communities and promoting disability inclusion.
