A geologist studies the Earth’s composition, structure, and analyzing rocks, minerals, and fossils to locate natural resources, assess environmental impacts, and predict geological hazards. Job duties include conducting fieldwork, performing laboratory analysis, creating geological maps, and using computer software for data analysis and modelling. They collaborate with engineers and scientists and provide expect advice for projects in mining, energy, and construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Ø Fieldwork and data collection: Conduct field studies, surveys, and sample collection to gather geological data.
Ø Sample analysis: Analyze rock, minerals, soil, and fossil samples in a laboratory to determine their composition, structure, and properties.
Ø Data interpretation and mapping: Use geophysical techniques and software to interpret subsurface data and create geological maps, charts, and reports.
Ø Resource assessment: Locate and evaluate natural resources such as Copper, Gold, Gypsum, Gem and Manganese.
Ø Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols, wear protective gear, and ensure all work adheres to regulations.
Ø Immediately report problems / failures that impact on the organization to the mine manager.
Ø Adhere to all organization policies and procedures.
Ø Set an example for team members of commitment, dedication, work ethics and habits and personal character.
Ø You are responsible for your allocated work-load and must meet all targets as agreed with line manager. You must contribute towards the efficient running of the organization generally.
Ø Daily reporting on the works done a must.
Ø Always submit a report for your monthly activities for your remuneration to the Mine Manager.
