We are therefore inviting applications to fill the following vacant positions:
Position: SHE Intern.
Locations: Lusaka
Contract: Six Months contract, Lunch and Transport Allowance to be provided.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the implementation of Safety, Health and Environmental policies and standards.
· Guide line management in the planning and implementation of SHE management systems based on ISO, NOSA, and other applicable management systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
· Develop and maintain strategies aimed at preventing accidents and environmental pollution.
· Organize and maintain internal SHE communication systems, including the Safety Committee and departmental SHE discussion groups.
· Implement appropriate SHE training programs, including employee and contractor induction, in liaison with the Human Resources Department.
· Conduct planned, special, and routine SHE audits, assessments, and inspections, ensuring the involvement of relevant departments to achieve best practice and compliance.
· Formulate agendas and conduct periodic reviews of SHE management systems with top management to support continuous improvement.
· Ensure that all new projects and operations undergo risk assessments, including reviews of environmental aspects and health and safety hazard registers.
· Maintain accident, hazard, and environmental aspect registers, as well as all SHE system documentation, and ensure effective reporting and investigation of incidents to prevent recurrence.
· Implement and periodically test emergency preparedness and response plans, reporting on performance and outcomes.
· Investigate community environmental complaints promptly and implement corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
Educational Requirement
· A university degree in Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience Required
· Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Roles, Skills, and Attributes
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Sound knowledge of NOSA, ISO standards, and Safety, Health and Environmental legislation.
· Good understanding of SHE monitoring technologies and techniques.
· Knowledge of industrial and environmental epidemiology.
· Knowledge of pest control principles.
· Strong SHE auditing skills.
· Ability to persuade, influence, and enforce compliance.
