Our client in the Engineering Sector is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Electrician (1) to be based in Lusaka.
Job descriptions of an Electrician
· Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, circuits, and fixtures in accordance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
· Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs accurately.
· Inspect electrical systems, components, and equipment to identify defects, faults, or malfunctions, and diagnose issues using testing equipment and tools.
· Troubleshoot electrical problems, such as power outages, short circuits, and voltage fluctuations, and implement corrective actions to restore functionality.
· Install and configure electrical systems and equipment, such as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and electrical panels, following manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
· Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting electrical components and systems, to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
· Test electrical systems and components for proper operation, voltage, current, and resistance, using multimeters, voltage testers, and other diagnostic tools.
· Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
· Install and maintain grounding systems, surge protectors, and electrical safety devices to protect against electrical hazards, shocks, and fires.
· Keep abreast of advancements in electrical technology, equipment, and regulations, participating in training programs, seminars, and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
· Respond to emergency service calls, power outages, or electrical emergencies promptly, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following proper procedures for handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials, and adhering to safety protocols at all times
· With a valid membership practicing certificate of EIZ
· At least a minimum professional qualification of a Diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a reputable organisation
