The Apostolic Voice Education Trust (AVET) is launching the Community Mental Health & First Aid (CMHFA) Program, a groundbreaking initiative to train African communities in mental health literacy, first aid, nutrition, and disease prevention.
We are seeking volunteers from the medical field, research, and allied disciplines to help develop courses, create content, mentor participants, and support community projects.
Important Note:
This is a full-time volunteer role. There is no salary, airtime, or data reimbursement, and volunteers are expected to use their own resources. By applying, you acknowledge this commitment.
Who We Need
1. Medical Professionals
- Doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, and other healthcare providers
- Review and validate course content for accuracy and safety
- Conduct virtual or in-person demonstrations for practical skills (first aid, emergency response)
- Provide mentorship and guidance to participants
2. Mental Health & Counseling Experts
- Psychologists, counselors, social workers
- Develop and deliver mental health modules
- Guide crisis intervention exercises and psychological first aid content
- Mentor participants in practical mental wellness projects
3. Researchers / Public Health Specialists
- Conduct studies on community health needs
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating program impact
- Support the creation of evidence-based materials for course modules
- Design surveys and collect community health data
4. Nutrition & Community Health Experts
- Develop modules on nutrition, disease prevention, and lifestyle health
- Advise participants on affordable, locally available health solutions
- Support community outreach campaigns
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
- Create and review course content for Levels 1–3
- Mentor learners and monitor project progress
- Support practical field activities and community health projects
- Help build the program’s credibility and impact in communities
Requirements
- Professional experience in medical, mental health, research, or community health
- Willingness to commit full-time as a volunteer
- Ability to collaborate remotely and in community settings
- Passion for empowering African communities
