CALL FOR THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE ZAMBIA NATIONAL FARMERS UNION (ZNFU) REGIONAL EXPO EVENT MANAGER
1. Background
The Zambia National Farmers Union is a membership-based organisation, registered under the Societies Act. The Union exists to promote and safeguard interests of members, Individual members, corporations/companies, purveyors & agribusiness players to achieve sustainable agriculture, economic & social development in Zambia. The Core functions of the Union include lobbying and advocacy, member services, outreach activities & communication services.
In its quest to orient and promote farmers exposure to improved technologies and innovations, thereby enhancing crop productivity, the Zambia National Farmers Union has planned to host its inaugural self-financing Regional Expo during the year. The Regional Expo is a farming technology, agribusiness innovation and a business-to-business network and transaction platform designed to inspire future development of Zambian agriculture. The Expo will bring together local/regional manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, researchers, government agencies and other service providers of leading ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ agricultural technologies and solutions. The Expo will focus on showcasing agricultural technologies and informative experience for all participants.
It is against this background that the ZNFU seeks to hire an Event Manager who will provide Service and management level organization and hosting of the regional Expo to meet the industry standards. The Event Manager shall perform duties with diligence, professionalism and in accordance with industry standards.
2.Objectives
The primary objectives of the Event Manager shall include;
1. Designing of the whole event, layout, demarcations and allotment
2. Development of the Event program i.e. Proposed Event dates, agreed upon schedule of planned activities for the event.
3. Branding and promotion of the event to sponsors, agribusiness players, farmers, government agencies and other critical stakeholders.
4. Marketing of the Expo to exhibitors i.e companies in agro-chemicals, seed sector, fertilizer, agricultural machinery and equipment, Livestock machinery and equipment and other professional farming services.
5. Marketing and promotion of the event to small, medium and large-scale farmers, agribusiness companies, corporate farming entities and other key stakeholders.
6. Designing and execution of the post events performance surveys and reporting and shared lessons learnt.
3. Skills and Qualifications
The Event Manager should possess:
i. Poven experience in managing self-financed events
ii. Strong budgeting and financial management skills
iii. Excellent organisational, communication and leadership abilities
iv. Proficiency in marketing and promotional strategies
v. Problem solving and risk management expertise.
5. Duration of engagement
The engagement will cover the entire event lifecycle including, Pre-event planning and preparation. On-site coordination during the event and post-event wrap-up and reporting
