We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head Legal Officer to lead the organization’s legal function. The role will be responsible for providing expert legal guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting executive decision-making. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the legal department, providing direction and oversight on all legal matters
- Advise executive management on legal risks, corporate governance, and compliance issues
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, agreements, and legal documents
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Oversee litigation, dispute resolution, and external legal counsel
- Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with business objectives
- Manage regulatory relationships and handle legal audits or investigations
- Establish and enforce internal legal policies, frameworks, and controls
- Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and investments
- Monitor changes in legislation and proactively advise the organization
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M)
- Must be a qualified Advocate / Attorney with valid practicing license
- 10–15 years of progressive legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong expertise in corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
- Experience in managing complex legal matters and high-value transactions
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
