- DIVISIONAL MANAGER (3 YEARS CONTRACT)
Main Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Technical Director, the job holder will be responsible for the technical and commercial operations in the Division by ensuring that water supply and sanitation services are provided in an efficient and sustainable manner.
Main accountabilities
- Develops Divisional operation plans and oversees implementation to ensure delivery of quality water and sanitation services.
- Coordinates the Division maintenance works in liaison with Technical Asset Management to ensure continuity of service delivery.
- Ensures that raw water sources are safeguarded against pollution by continuous monitoring quality of raw water and ensuring immediate implementation of remedial action in the event of unacceptable pollution levels.
- Oversees the Divisional commercial activities, aiming to drive revenue growth, maximize collections and manage risks
- Implements all company policies and programs at the Division to ensure that staff welfare, customer care, implementation of Maintenance Management system (MMS) in liaison with key departments concerned.
- Prepares and submits periodic reports covering the operations of the Division for Senior Management information and decision making.
- Represents the Company in all developmental and communication meetings with Key stakeholders in the Division. Ensures information flows through meetings, memos and seminars
- Chairs Divisional management and family meetings, attends and presents Division’s monthly report at the Bi-Weekly Executive meetings at Head Office.
- Makes periodic visits at least once a month to operational areas such as treatment plants, sewer ponds and booster stations to see first – hand, the status of operations
- Oversees the preparation of and implementation of the Division’s annual budget as well as Strategic Corporate and business plans and ensure that expenditure at the Division is within the approved budget.
- Supervises, coaches, motivates, develops and disciplines subordinates. Monitors, reviews and agrees on the performance of subordinates to ensure that they meet their agreed performance targets.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate with minimum of 5 ‘O’ Levels
- Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Water Engineering with Professional membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and Registered with the Engineering Registration Board (ERB).
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration
- Minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience ina similar role
- Good understanding of organization dynamics and technical processes and policies.
- Good understanding of engineering/business principles and water utility operations
- Able to anticipate challenges and opportunities which may arise from customers, regulatory, technological and sector changes and translate these into coherent strategies
- Experience in commercial processes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment
- A wide range of creativity and latitude is expected
- Valid Driver’s License with minimum of 2 years’ experience (Ability to Drive Manual Vehicle)
- HEAD COMMERCIAL SERVICES (3 YEARS CONTRACT)
Job Purpose
Reporting to Managing Director, the Head Commercial Services will manage and coordinate the commercial functions for the Company in order to enhance revenue collection and achieve set revenue targets
Summary of Main Accountabilities
- Devises and implements commercial and business strategies aimed at ensuring timely billing and collection of revenue from all clients to enable the company operate as a viable business enterprise
- Organizes and coordinates market research to establish customers” areas of dissatisfaction and introduces alternative methods to redress the situation
- Reviews the market scenario of the water business on a continuous basis and exploits any emerging opportunities so as to enhance company revenue base
- Assesses the performance of support staff and arranges suitable training in respect of those found wanting
- Contributes to the departmental efficiency savings by ensuring that the allocated budget is not exceeded
- Ensures full regulatory and legal requirements compliance and identifies potential risk issues and defines, negotiates and agrees the effective utilisation of resource in line with service specifications
- Identifies new tools and technologies to better serve the customer
- Carry out any other assignments as shall be delegated to in line with the objectives of the Department.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor Degree in Business related studies
- Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Good communicator
- Numerical and computation skills
- Analytical (numerical and computation) skills
- Able to anticipate the challenges and opportunities which arise from customer, regulatory, technological and sector changes and translate these into coherent strategy.
- Ability to work in fast pace working environment.
- A wide range of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Ability to develop a variety of effective presentations persuasive with a variety of techniques, for example, by using computer graphics to represent the findings of research.
