The Assistant Depot Manager supports the Depot Manager in the day-to-day operations of the depot by ensuring efficient stock management, sales support, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The role assists in overseeing inventory control, supervising depot staff, maintaining accurate stock records, and ensuring the depot operates in a safe, secure, and organized environment while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily depot operations, including stock receiving, storage, sales, and dispatch.
- Support inventory control activities, including stock issuing, stock counts, and reconciliations.
- Monitor stock movement and report any variances or shortages promptly.
- Supervise depot staff in the absence of the Depot Manager and ensure adherence to company procedures.
- Ensure accurate completion and filing of stock and sales documentation.
- Assist in preparing and submitting daily, weekly, and monthly sales and stock reports.
- Support the implementation of opening and closing depot procedures.
- Ensure the depot premises are clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Provide excellent customer service and support sales activities.
- Safeguard company assets and report any operational risks or incidents.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Depot Manager.
Key Qualifications and Competencies
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) credits or better.
- Diploma or higher qualification in Business Administration, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in depot operations, inventory management, sales, administration, or agriculture-related fields.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of stock control and inventory management principles.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
