1. Clinical Officer Intern
Reports to: Clinical Officer
Job Overview:
To offer medical services to all employees and stakeholders and ensure that the health facility complies with all Health Profession Council of Zambia requirements.
Accountabilities/Tasks
- Conduct patient consultations, perform medical examinations, prescribe appropriate treatment, investigate medical conditions, and administer medications correctly.
- Perform minor medical procedures, including wound dressing and suturing.
- Identify and refer patients requiring specialized or advanced medical care to appropriate hospitals or healthcare facilities.
- Operate and maintain basic diagnostic equipment and medical instruments.
- Provide health education and counselling on communicable diseases, including HIV/AIDS, and promote preventive healthcare practices.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of medical supplies and ensure timely replenishment to prevent stock shortages.
- Always safeguard the confidentiality of patients’ medical records and personal health information.
- Ensure the safe segregation, handling, and disposal of clinical waste in compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Ensure effective cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments.
- Provide patients and clients with appropriate health education to support disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure all medical reports, patient files, and related records are securely stored and protected from unauthorized access.
- Facilitate suitable transport for the sick /patient
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 certificate with credits or better, including Math and English.
- Diploma Clinical / Medical Sciences
- HPCZ affiliation, a MUST
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer knowledge.
- Able to work well as an individual as well as able to fit well in a team.
- Sober-minded and trustworthy individual.
