JOB TITLE: Underwriter - Reinsurance
LOCATION: Lusaka, Zambia
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriter - Reinsurance to join our team in Lusaka, Zambia. The successful candidate will assist in assessing and managing reinsurance risks, negotiating reinsurance contracts, and providing technical support to the reinsurance team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in assessing and underwriting reinsurance risks, including treaty and facultative placements
- Prepare and review reinsurance contracts and documentation
- Negotiate reinsurance terms and conditions with reinsurers and brokers
- Provide technical support to the reinsurance team and other stakeholders
- Monitor and report on reinsurance portfolio performance
- Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with reinsurers and brokers
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Professional qualification in Insurance (e.g., ACII, or equivalent) desirable but not essential
- Minimum 2 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting or related field
- Strong understanding of general insurance products and reinsurance principles
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional qualification in Reinsurance
- Experience with reinsurance software and systems
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry trends
