Position: Lab Assistant
Location: Livingstone, Zambia
Nature of Position: Soil Testing and Laboratory Data Management
Reporting Line: Lab Specialists / Operations Manager
Contract Type & Duration:
This is a contract-based role with an initial three (3) month probationary period, with the
possibility of extension or longer-term engagement subject to performance and project
requirements.
Working Conditions:
This role involves extensive laboratory activities, including soil testing, receiving, storing, and
dispatching soil samples, as well as recording lab data. Candidates should be prepared to work
indoors performing laboratory duties.

Job Summary:
Carbon is seeking a motivated Lab Assistant to support soil testing operations and laboratory data
recording activities in Livingstone, Zambia.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of laboratory materials, reagents, and equipment for experiments and
tests
• Conduct routine soil testing and laboratory experiments
• Record and analyze experimental data accurately and maintain detailed records.
• Perform basic laboratory techniques, including weighing, mixing, and sample preparation
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment
• Support the development and optimization of experimental procedures
• Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned by laboratory management.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Graduate Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Lab Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Soil Science,
Microbiology, or a related field
• At least 1 year of experience in soil testing work. (fresh graduates with practical soil testing
exposure are encouraged to apply)
• Based in or willing to relocate to Livingstone, Zambia
Essential Requirements:
• Android Smartphone and Basic computer skills, including MS Office tools
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory soil testing protocols and standard procedures.
