Job Title: Freight Forwarding Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Freight Forwarding Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the logistics and transportation of goods. This role involves coordinating shipments, handling documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining communication with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination:
- Arrange and coordinate the transportation of goods via sea, air, and land.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient movement of cargo.
- Select appropriate carriers and negotiate rates to optimize shipping costs and transit times. Inclusive of preparing monthly rate sheets.
- Documentation Management:
- Prepare and handle all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, Bivac, FERI and COD’s.
- Ensure all documentation complies with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
- Customs Compliance:
- Liaise with customs brokers and ensure accurate and timely submission of customs declarations.
- Stay updated on local and international trade regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
- Client and Vendor Relations:
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on shipment status and address any concerns or issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and other service providers.
- Problem Resolution:
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the transportation process.
- Implement contingency plans for delays, rerouting, or other logistical challenges.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments and related transactions.
- Generate reports on shipment status, costs, and performance metrics for management review.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a similar role.
- Familiarity with international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and transportation management.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
