Women for Change (WfC) a Gender-focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Project Officer – Civil Society Strengthening Programme for Children`s Rights under the “the Amplifying Child Rights Voices in Zambia Project” in Kapiri Mposhi and Mumbwa Districts of Central Province – Zambia. This project is in partnership with Save the Children.
Job Summary:
We seek a highly motivated and skilled Project Officer to support the implementation of the Civil Society Strengthening Programme for Children’s Rights (Amplifying Child Rights Voices in Zambia) Project. The Project Officer will work closely with communities, government stakeholders and partner organizations to strengthen Child-led and civil society monitoring, advocacy, and accountability for children's rights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Gender and Children's Rights Integration: Develop elements of gender and children's rights, integrating gender-transformative and climate-responsive approaches across monitoring, reporting, and influencing activities.
2. Capacity Building: Strengthen technical skills of child-rights organizations in child rights reporting, policy and budget analysis, digital data collection, and safeguard.
3. Inclusive Governance: Facilitate establishment of meaningful participation of girls, children with disabilities, and children from poor and climate-affected communities in governance structures.
4. Monitoring and Reporting: Build capacity of children, youth groups, and civil society organizations to systematically monitor, document, and report on child rights violations and government commitments.
5. Drive Policy Change: Support civil society actors and children in conducting robust, evidence-based advocacy to transform policies and services related to education, child protection, SRHR, and climate resilience. Ensure their voices are heard, influencing design, implementation, and financing to create lasting impact.
6. Advocacy Support: Support child-led monitoring and advocacy initiatives, ensuring simplified social accountability strategies and approaches.
7. Champion Inclusive Practices: Collaborate with project staff and partners to embed gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate resilience across all project activities. Foster a culture of inclusivity, ensuring no one is left behind.
8. Report Writing: generate activity, monthly, quarterly reports and contribute to management and annual reports, ensuring timely submission of documents
Required Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Science, or related field. Preferably, a Master Degree will have added advantage.
· 3-5 years of experience working with NGOs/CSOs on child rights, gender equality, climate change or related programs.
· Strong understanding of child rights frameworks, gender equality, and social accountability mechanisms and approaches.
· Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
· Experience working with communities and government stakeholders in Zambia.
· Fluency in English; knowledge of common local languages in Mumbwa and Kapiri Mposhi districts is an asset.

· Experience with participatory approaches and community mobilization.
· Very strong analytical and report-writing skills.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
· Commitment to promoting children's rights and gender equality.
· Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other non-formal methods.
· Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
· Highly Computer Literate
