PROJECT GEOLOGIST – ARTISANAL MINING (ZAMBIA)
Bellmont Group is seeking a Project Geologist with strong field experience to support ongoing copper sourcing operations across artisanal and small-scale mining sites in Zambia.
Role Overview:
The Project Geologist will be responsible for conducting random and representative sampling, assessing ore quality, and ensuring adherence to strict sampling and reporting protocols across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field visits to artisanal mining sites across Zambia
- Perform random, channel, and grab sampling in line with best practices
- Ensure sample integrity, sealing, and chain of custody procedures
- Work closely with local teams and suppliers on-site
- Prepare sampling reports and basic geological assessments
- Support due diligence on new supply sources
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Geology or Mining-related field
- Minimum 2–5 years field experience, preferably in ASM (artisanal mining) environments
- Strong understanding of ore variability and sampling techniques
- Ability to work independently in remote and challenging environments
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Must be based in Zambia and willing to travel frequently
Preferred:
- Experience with copper ores and concentrates
- Prior work with commodity traders or inspection firms
- Familiarity with lab testing and assay processes
