POSITION OVERVIEW
Provides treatment for physical problems resulting from illness, injury or disability and assists the rehabilitation process by developing and restoring the function of the body enabling patients to improve their mobility.
DUTIES
1. Provides assessment, plans care and delivers a range of physical treatments to resolve, restore or maintain physical based conditions
2. Provides treatment to reduce pain, increase mobility and limit secondary functional disability providing effective and evaluated individualized programs of care
3. Assesses, treats and monitors mobility problems providing appropriate assistance from walking aids and supports
4. Participates in ward rounds to communicate treatment plans and supports the medical team in providing holistic patient centered care
5. Provides support to the medical multidisciplinary team by providing physiotherapy based assessment of the patient’s physical conditions
6. Ensures the patient needs and progress is communicated to other members of the medical multidisciplinary team as appropriate
7. Attends the medical multidisciplinary team reviews as appropriate
8. Maintains accurate and comprehensive treatment notes keeping a clinical record of treatment interventions
9. Demonstrates ongoing personal development by undertaking relevant trainings including CME activities as may be organized inside or outside the hospital
10. Requisitions for supplies necessary for physiotherapy work, and keeps a record of their inventory and use
11. Adheres to BCH and MOH standards of patient care, treatment protocols and documentation
12. Communicates effectively with all other BCH staff to ensure successful patient care from every discipline within the hospital
13. Reports any malfunction of equipment to the immediate supervisor or appropriate person (s) as soon as possible
Requirements
· Diploma in physiotherapy from a recognized institution
· 1 to 3 years experience in a pediatric rehabilitation facility
· Must be registered with the medical council of Zambia
· Must be willing to learn other clinical technician functions
· Good communication skills with peers, superiors, physicians, patients and their families
· Ability to handle or process confidential documents or material in an appropriate manner
· Ability to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, and work independently
