Job Description – Electrical & Security Systems Technician
Core Responsibilities
Electrical installations: Install, maintain, and repair wiring, distribution boards, and backup power systems (generators, UPS).
CCTV systems: Deploy IP/analog cameras, configure NVR/DVR storage, and ensure perimeter surveillance coverage.
Access control: Install and maintain biometric readers, card/fob systems, and turnstiles for secure entry management.
Fire alarm systems: Install smoke/heat detectors, manual call points, and integrate alarm panels with emergency response protocols.
Preventive maintenance: Conduct scheduled inspections, testing, and calibration of all systems.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults using test equipment and software tools to minimize downtime.
Required Skills & Competencies
–Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, schematics, and load balancing.
–Proficiency in CCTV design tools, IP networking, and storage planning.
–Familiarity with Dormakaba, Dahua, Hikvision, or equivalent access control systems.
–Ability to integrate fire alarm systems with building management systems.
–Clear communication and reporting skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
–Craft Certificate/Technician Certificate or Advanced Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology.
–Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
–Experience 3–5 years in electrical/security systems installation and maintenance.
–OSHA Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)/Electrical Safety certificate will be an added advantage
–Additional training in CCTV design, fire alarm installation, or access control integration is an advantage.
