Freight Estimator

Job Overview
The Freight Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive freight quotations and billing schedules. The role involves obtaining and evaluating supplier rates, understanding all cost components of logistics movements, and ensuring profitability on each transaction. The Freight Estimator will collaborate closely with operations, customs, and finance teams to ensure cost accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and negotiate supplier rates for transport, warehousing, and related logistics services.
- Prepare detailed costings and billing schedules for quotations and tenders.
- Maintain and regularly update a database of supplier tariffs and service agreements.
- Coordinate with internal teams to confirm pricing accuracy and operational feasibility.
- Analyze margins and profitability for each client or shipment.
- Assist in tender preparation and pricing strategy development.
- Review and validate supplier invoices against agreed rates.
- Stay informed of market rate changes and industry cost trends.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- 2–4 years’ experience in freight forwarding, transport costing, or logistics pricing.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Sound understanding of freight forwarding processes and Incoterms.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel and ERP systems).
- Attention to detail and ability to work with tight deadlines.
