Position Overview:
The Advocacy and Policy Lead is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to influence mining-related policy and legislation. This role involves generating evidence-based advocacy materials and engaging directly with policymakers to advance MCI's mission of promoting accountability and reform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive advocacy strategy to influence national and regional mining policies.
- Produce high-quality policy briefs, position papers, and submissions to government consultations based on MCI's research findings.
- Build and maintain a strong network of contacts within government ministries, parliamentary committees, and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Represent MCI in policy forums, workshops, and multi-stakeholder dialogues.
- Work closely with the research team to translate complex data into compelling advocacy messages.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Master's degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of proven experience in policy analysis, development, and advocacy, ideally within the extractives or human rights sector.
- Strong understanding of the Zambian legislative process and government structures.
