Comundo has been active in Zambia since more than four decades, working in close cooperation with a diverse network of partners. The focus of the country programme in Zambia lies on basic- and vocational education (Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training TEVET) with the overall goal of contributing to inclusive quality education (SDG 4). Within this context, Comundo – in collaboration with multiple partners – implements the project “Energy Skills 4 Youth (ES4Y): Competency-based vocational skills development in the (solar) energy sector to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged youth”.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Finance Officer to join our organisation. The role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with donor and statutory requirements, and the efficient use of resources. The Finance Officer will maintain the integrity of financial records, oversee reconciliations, and ensure adherence to organizational and donor policies
Your key responsibilities include
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledgers to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial summaries, reports, and statements
- Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions
- Update and maintain the general ledger
- Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system
- Account reconciliation to assert the accuracy of transactions
- Use knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements and tax obligations/laws
- Monitor any variances from the projected budget
- Filling of all financial records in their respective files.
Your profile
- Qualifications: Degree in accountancy /Finance/ finalist ZICA or ACCA. Must be a member of ZICA.
- Experience:At least 3 years’ relevant working experience working in an NGO environment in the same or similar capacity
- Skills: Must have proven budget development and oversight experience, Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in using Spreadsheets particularly MS Excel and quick books. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, Attention to details with analytical skills.
- Personal Attributes: Independent and team-oriented, self-motivated, open to try out new things and methods, with a willingness to travel within and beyond Lusaka (if needed).
