Nutri- Aid Trust (NAT) is a Non Profit Organisation founded in 2007 in Zambia that aims at rendering expertise in Agri-Business Development, Agriculture and Food systems, Climate change and Value Chain development interventions for Small scale farmers in Zambia. Nutri Aid Trust is anticipating donor funded project in Nyimba,Petauke,Katete,Lundazi,Chipata, Choma,Kapiri Mposhi, Mumbwa and Gwembe.
Job Summary
The District Facilitators will work as part of a dynamic team to promote Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in order to enhance food security among smallholder farmers (SHFs). They will be responsible for managing partnerships and coordinating activities within their respective districts of operation. Working under the direct supervision of Programs Manager, the District Facilitators will be based in the assigned district offices and will support the implementation of project activities aimed at strengthening practices, and increasing climate resilience among smallholder farmers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver agricultural extension services as a master trainer to the female-led Farmer Field Schools (FFS) , train the female led farmer field schools in Climate Smart Agricultural Practices such as Conservation Agriculture and Agroforestry.
2. Conduct visits to FFS members to ensure replication of lessons learnt at FFSs and adoption of the CSA practices
3. Establish and manage partnerships with line government ministries and Civil Society Organizations in the district.
4. Support the FFSs with irrigation systems initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change.
5. Assist in participatory processes to develop village-based sustainable livelihoods, savings and credit schemes as well as linkage of sustainable FFS to markets.
6. Train and co ordinate the activities of female led farmer field school community champions
7. Mapping of farmer field schools on GPS
8. Prepare field activity progress reports as requested by the Programs Manager
9. Communicate directly with the Program Manager amongst others regarding project activities.
10. Conduct field events such as field days, input fairs, and other learning events in the district
Candidate Profile
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Minimum a Diploma in Agriculture, Agroforestry or related field, degree will be an added advantage
· Language: Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and local language
· Work experience: not less than 3 years of relevant work experience in the agricultural sector
· Excellent coordination, training and communication skills
· Extensive knowledge of small-scale agribusiness, micro-crediting, agroforestry and horticulture
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills – comfortable working in the field with local communities
· Able to ride a Motor bike and in possession of class A rider’s license
