The Steel Fixer will be responsible for cutting, bending, and fixing reinforcement steel bars and mesh used in concrete structures such as foundations, columns, beams, and slabs. The role involves interpreting drawings, placing reinforcement accurately, and ensuring the steel is properly secured before concrete is poured to maintain structural strength and stability.
Education Requirements
· Grade 12 School Certificate (preferred by most employers).
· Craft Certificate in Steel Fixing
Experience Requirements
· 2–3 years of practical experience in steel fixing or reinforcement work on construction projects.
· Experience in cutting, bending, and fixing reinforcement bars for foundations, columns, beams, and slabs.
Additional Skills
· Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS).
· Knowledge of reinforcement placement, tying techniques, and concrete preparation requirements.
· Physical fitness and ability to work safely on construction sites.
