Camco Equipment Zambia Limited now seeks to appoint a suitable candidate in the following position:-
1.POSITION: ACCOUNTANT (01)
REPORTING TO : Finance Manager
JOB PURPOSE : To manage and coordinate the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and records in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), statutory requirements, and corporate policies to facilitate sound financial management and decision-making.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Financial Reporting and Accounting
1. Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and other applicable regulations.
2. Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in the general ledger.
3. Prepare management accounts, variance analyses, and other reports to support informed decision-making.
4. Facilitate timely submission of financial reports to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
Budget Coordination and Monitoring
5. Assist in coordinating the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
6. Monitor budget performance and report variances to management for corrective action.
7. Provide analytical support in evaluating financial performance across departments.
General Ledger and Reconciliation Management
8. Supervise maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and control accounts.
9. Ensure proper documentation, journal postings, and adjustments to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
10. Review accounting schedules and ensure timely closure of financial periods.
Audit and Compliance
11. Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules and responding to audit queries.
12. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and corporate financial policies.
13. Implement and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets and financial data. Ensure that support is given to all cashiers in the branches as with regards to petty cash issues and other relevant support as may be needed.
Asset and Inventory Management
14. Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register, ensuring proper accounting for additions, disposals, and depreciation.
15. Monitor stock and inventory levels to ensure proper valuation and reconciliation.
16. Support periodic physical verification of assets and stores.
Payroll and Statutory Obligations
17. Oversee payroll accounting to ensure accurate capture and reporting of staff emoluments and related deductions.
18. Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations (PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, and others).
19. Maintain accurate payroll records and reconcile them with the general ledger.
Financial Controls and Risk Management
20. Identify financial risks and recommend control measures to mitigate them.
21. Promote adherence to internal financial control procedures and standards.
22. Support the automation and digitalisation of financial processes to enhance efficiency.
Supervision and Capacity Building
23. Supervise and provide technical guidance to Accountants and other support staff.
24. Review and validate work prepared by subordinates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
25. Promote staff development, teamwork, and a high-performance culture within the unit.
26. Ability to train new employees in both Accounting and Finance according to Company guidelines and standard training manuals
27. Ability to fully understand Company SOPs, able to follow company's rules with self-discipline, and give feedback on the implementation of the regulations timely, and put forward reasonable suggestions for improvement.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial accounting standards, and public finance regulations.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
· Proven leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Proficiency in Odoo ERP/accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
· Integrity, professionalism, and commitment to corporate values.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or related field.
· Full professional accounting qualification i.e. CA Zambia, ACCA, ZICA, CIMA, or equivalent.
· Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in financial reporting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
· Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
