A reputable Insurance Broking company, in operation for over 30 years, is seeking a is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Lusaka head office. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and Finance manager and will support day-to-day finance and accounting activities within the insurance broking environment.
KEY DUTIES
- Maintain and review company cash books and supporting records.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Receive, record and reconcile insurance premium inflows; remit premiums to insurers.
- Support payroll processing and related reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit quarterly PIA returns and Insurance Premium Levy filings on the ZRA portal.
- Prepare and process statutory returns and payments (NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE, etc.).
- Assist with corporation tax computations (provisional and final) and payments.
- Maintain general ledger entries and perform insurer reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable; prepare periodic cash flows.
- Conduct periodic fixed asset verification and maintain asset register.
- Perform any other finance-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Degree in Accountancy, Finance or related field.
- Part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA or ZICA preferred; membership of ZICA is an advantage.
- Recent graduates with relevant internship or part-time accounting experience are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum 0–3 years’ experience in accounting; experience in the insurance industry or broking is desirable.
- Experience with Pastel Accounting software is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability and good communication skills.
